What's Your "Why"?

Monday Feb 5th, 2018

When we begin a project, we have a reason as to why we are doing it. When we begin our careers and professional positions, we also usually have a motivating reason as to why we are making these choices.

Somewhere in the busyness of our lives, that passion can be lost. Our everyday lives become lists of to-dos, and we lose track of our initial motivating factor.

When we ask our clients why they chose their particular careers, we hear many answers, such as:

  • Flexibility
  • Income potential
  • Ability to travel
  • Means for providing for their family
  • Pride in ownership
  • Wanting to make a difference in people’s lives

So if you feel that you are losing your focus as to why you chose your current path in the first place, take the time to regroup and refocus.

Ask yourself:

  • Are you still fulfilled by this position?
  • Are you making the impact that you had planned?
  • Do you still feel excited about your career?
  • Do you feel as though you are being proactive or merely reactive?

Now is a great time to get your vision back. Remember why you chose this path, and reignite your passion for what you do.

If you feel stuck, try some of these actions:

  • Modify your processes
  • Take on a leadership role
  • Enhance your skills with training
  • Raise your sights higher for accomplishments
  • Focus on positivity and growth

Clients will note the positive shift in your energy and demeanor.

It’s easy to be so busy and so focused that you forget your why. Taking the time to get back on course will make a huge difference in your attitude and your outcomes.

Make it a great week!
